There’s no doubt that the past fifty years have witnessed breathtaking breakthroughs in the diagnosis and treatment of infertility—the technology of egg freezing included. However, scientific understanding of the natural progression of fertility, and what steps can be taken to protect it, is still very much in its infancy.

Closing that “fertility knowledge gap” is what prompted our team to create the Center for Fertility Research and Education—an organization we’re excited to launch today! Founded by our reproductive endocrinologist Dr. Bat-Sheva Lerner Maslow and Director of Communications Kristen Mancinelli, MSPH, and advised by Dr. Joshua Klein and embryologist Dr. Leslie Ramirez, CFRE conducts high-quality research in the field of fertility and fertility preservation and develops educational initiatives to promote public fertility awareness.

CFRE’s targeted research has three goals:

• To identify the factors that impact women’s understanding and decision-making with respect to their family building goals,
  
• To understand the natural biologic progression of fertility throughout women’s reproductive years, and
• To determine best practices for the utilization of fertility preservation for young, healthy women.

Through these initiatives, we hope to equip women with a greater understanding of their bodies and offer our fellow doctors evidence-based guidelines for counseling women about fertility. And, as fertility specialists, we want to continuously ensure we’re providing women with the best possible care.
