Extend Fertility’s chief embryologist, Dr. Leslie Ramirez, will join us for our next #EggsOnIceChat—this time, with special focus on our lab and the freezing process. It’ll be held on Facebook Live Tuesday, October 18th, at 2PM.
Dr. Leslie Ramirez obtained her master’s and PhD in the biotechnology of human assisted reproduction at the University of Valencia in Spain. Before joining us here at Extend Fertility, she worked as an embryologist and researcher at Brigham and Women’s Hospital at Harvard University, where she was part of the team performing the clinical trial of a new embryo time-lapse imaging system, The Eeva™ Test.
We’ll talk with Dr. Ramirez about what happens once the eggs are retrieved from a woman’s ovaries and handed off to the lab. How are the eggs actually frozen, and at what temperature? What exactly is vitrification, and why is it the best method of freezing? How do we measure the success of freezing? How are the eggs stored? And more!
